Amazon was always my first stop for XBOX live. But since the announcement of a price increase, Amazon has really let me down. All they are doing is trying to cash in before the price actually increases. The deals on this website were great, but now they are just as greedy as other corporate entities. The price of the subscription has not even rose yet, but Amazon has decided to leave all their loyal customers out to dry.

Simple enough. Only wish I had bought more of them before the price went up. Buying here online was still cheaper than the stores around my area.
Sebastian M. Said: Xbox Live Price Increase $$$ = Corporate Greed ( Sep. 5th 2010 )
Facts:
Effective November 1st Xbox Live will increase both monthly and annual subscription costs. * Yearly subscriptions will increase to 59.99 * Quarterly subscriptions will increase to 24.99 * Monthly subscriptions will increase to 9.99
The company Microsoft justifies this increase in cost by emphasizing the additional services offered for gold members such as ESPN - Facebook - Twitter - Netflix - Last.fm - & Video Kinect
Microsoft PR sent out this statement "Since launching Xbox Live in 2002 we have continually added more content and entertainment experiences for our members, while keeping the price the same. We're confident that when the new pricing takes effect, an Xbox Live Gold membership will continue to offer the best value in the industry." - Larry Hryb Xbox Live Programming Director
My Take:
At first, the capitalist inside of me tried to justify this price increase. My logic was that Microsoft was offering more services for gold members, and therefore the consumer shouldn't be upset if the price increased (that defense lasted about 30 seconds). My opinion quickly changed after I examined exactly what services Microsoft was offering and whether or not they were "exclusive" in nature or public. I realized every "service" listed albiet (Video Kinect) is entirely free online minus and public in nature (espn-they charge members for certain options) ; therefore Microsoft cannot justify it's current price increase.
My Suggestion:
1. Be upset
2. Be vocal
3. Boycott
Microsoft is attempting to change Xbox Live into something it's not. We didn't sign up for these services in 2002 ( this is not a cable service ) ; we (the consumer) paid the "fair" annual fee because we didn't want to lug our xbox around to a friends house to play via lan. Were not interested in paying for "content" - just to stay connected with our friends and play the same games together. If you (Microsoft) lost track of this than i'm sorry. but don't charge us for your mistake.
i'm upset. i'm being vocal. and if you charge more 39.99 per year. i'm going to boycott xbox live and not re-subscribe when my time runs out.

This is the best value around for the xbox 12 month gold card. Took about a week or less to arrive in mail. No problems with card or purchase. A+!

Good job to Amazon for raising the price by $10 on their existing stock the instant Microsoft announces a price hike. I figured they'd at least keep existing stock at the right price until Microsoft officially raises the price a month from now, but apparently it was too good to pass up. Shame on Microsoft and Amazon.
